Wound fin tubes are a type of heat exchanger tube that features fins wrapped around the outer surface of the tube. The fins are typically made from materials like aluminum or copper and are wound in a helical or spiral pattern. This design increases the surface area of the tube, enhancing its ability to transfer heat between the fluid inside the tube and the surrounding environment.The general materials of base tubes about the wound finned tube are carbon steel, copper, alloy, stainless steel ; the general materials of fins about the wound finned tube are copper, aluminum 1060/1070, aluminum alloy 6063/6061.And there are three categories of wound finned tubes: L-fin tubes, LL-fin tubes and KL-fin tubes.

Advantages

The trapezoidal section formed by rolling of L-shaped finned tube is consistent with the distribution of heat flow density, and the tubes are closely combined with high thermal efficiency, thus eliminating the contact thermal resistance caused by the gap between the fins.

By winding process, high production efficiency, uniform spacing, good heat transfer, high fin ratio, the base pipe can be protected from air erosion.

Application

Wound L-type fin tubes are used in heat exchangers for air cooling or heating fluids such as air, water, oil, or gas. They are commonly found in industries such as oil & gas, power generation, marine, and HVAC&R.Specific applications include diesel charge air coolers, oil coolers, hydrogen coolers, waste heat recovery, driers, air conditioning, air heaters, generator coolers, and steam condensers.
